Schwinn 430 Elliptical! August 12, 2009 Matthew S. Ford To make a long story short, this Elliptical has proven extremely worthy for home use. It's very smooth unlike other ellipticals. Squeeked a little bit at first, but that was due to over fastening of the nuts & bolts. I highly recommend this, plus its a great deal. My Fiance and I did tons of research, and this had the best reviews. It really is a great buy!
Pros: Easy to assemble (Less than 1h 30 mins), Lots of settings.
Cons: None so far, have only owned it for a few weeks.
Great Bang For The Buck August 10, 2009 N. Delgado (Sacramento, CA) The whole process of buying an elliptical machine came from a desire to try something different than the treadmill I have been using everyday for the last twelve years. My trusty treadmill has been a great, reliable performer for over a decade. I was looking for something to be hopefully as reliable and to provide a more balanced and challenging workout, which I believe an elliptical to be.
After many visits to different sporting goods stores and "tryouts" of various brands of machines, my husband and I agreed to purchase a Schwinn product. The decision was based on price point, quality and extensive research on the internet. We read professional reviews, consumer reviews and general product reviews until we could not read anymore.
The first thing about the Schwinn ellipitcals that impressed us, was the smooth action of the machine. It felt on par with more expensive, so called "gym quality" machines. We decided on the 430 because it offered everything we wanted and didn't include anything we weren't concerned with. The footprint of the machine was a definite concern for us, because of the limited space we had to place it. The Schwinn 430 actually takes up less space than the spacesaver treadmill it replaces. It is very easy to move as well.
We have read varying accounts on the assembly time for the Schwinn 430. Usually two and a half to four hours. I'm not really sure what the problems were for other purchasers, but my husband had it assembled and ready for use in 1.5 hours. He took his time and said it was very simple to assemble. We have not experienced any of the squeaking problems we have read about from other reviews. My husband appreciated the heads up from previous reviews, about over tightening bolts to moving components. With this in mind, he was able to alleviate any squeaking problems. The 430 has been perfect since the last screw was tightened on the drink holder.
Overall, we are extremely pleased with our purchase of the Schwinn 430 Elliptical Trainer. A great investment. A great machine.
Schwinn 430 Elliptical August 10, 2009 Frank A. (McAllen, TX) I am very satisfied with the Schwinn 430 Elliptical Trainer. It was easy to assemble. I have used it a few weeks, and the trainer is very solid and quiet. There are various levels of resistance, of which I have only used 4. The only dissapointment is the display which is difficult to see because there is hardly any backlight.
pleased with elliptical August 9, 2009 W. Atwood (Annapolis, Maryland) Except for the lack of a backlight on the screen and rubber pads on the pedals, this has proven to be an excellent piece of gym equipment. It assembled well and has a smooth action. You will need to spend much more money to get a better machine.
A good machine. August 6, 2009 mugu88 Bought this eliptical from amazon. Have had it for about 6 months. Overall it works well. Only had problem with the squeaking in the arm joints, which I heard was a minor issue for other users. Just had to tweak the joints so that they didn't rub together and the noise was gone (loosen the center rod, I guess). After that, no real problems. The setup really does take a bit of time, so set aside a bit for it. It's easier if you have an assistant to help you. It wobbles a little bit when I move real fast on it, but that doesn't seem to cause any major problems, and maybe it's just due to the unevenness of the floor (my house is old and weird) its on. It's got a manual, programed and quick start settings to use, heart rate monitor and counts calories and distance as you go. The arms and legs move smoothly as you go. Overall, I'd recommend it for a home type eliptical at a decent price.
I'm also quite amused with how it says "Great job!" at the end :) *I* feel encouraged!
